A Recipe with Historical Ingredients
Provided mostly by the Native Wampanoags (90 braves) in, possibly, the year 1621
- Five deer
- Waterfowl for a week (Provided by Settlers)
- Pompion- Boiled Pumpkin
- Dried Corn boiled into a “stew”
Items that could have been there because of availability:
- Dried fruit: Raspberries, blueberries, grapes, other wild berries
- Nuts: Black walnuts, chestnuts, acorns, hickory nuts
- Fish: Cod, eel
- Herbs
- Mandan Opata “Cornballs”
- Pounded Corn
- Pounded Sunflower Seeds
- Boiled Beans
- All rolled into balls
- Boiled Green Corn
- Spread with Bison Marrow
